Government Agencies
Appalachian Regional Commission
Provides funding for projects throughout the Appalachian region to support job growth,
worker training, and infrastructure improvements. The site also provides research reports
on business development and entrepreneurship as well as a list of funding resources.
Small Business Administration
Contains resources on small businesses and data on the impact of small businesses on the
economy.
U.S. Economic Development Administration
The mission of EDA is to help retain existing jobs, and stimulate industrial and commercial
growth in economically distressed areas of the United States. EDA assistance is available
to rural and urban areas of the Nation experiencing high unemployment, low income, or other
severe economic distress.

A leading nonprofit think tank focusing on entrepreneurship and asset development.

A comprehensive website created by the Ewing Marion Kauffman foundation that provides a
wide variety of resources for entrepreneurs.
The Edward Lowe Foundation
Based in Michigan, the Edward Lowe Foundation champions the entrepreneurial spirit by
providing assistance to not-for-profit organizations that work with second-stage business
owners.

Entrepreneurial Assistance
Kansas City SourceLink
KCSourceLink connects a network of 140 nonprofit resource organizations that provide
business-building services for small businesses. Their mission is to provide business
assistance to small businesses in the greater Kansas City area.
MU Business Development Programs
Provides small business assistance and worker training throughout Missouri.
Missouri Regional Cuisines Project
Markets regional Missouri products based on label of origin. The pilot project encompasses
the region of Jefferson, St. Francois, Ste. Genevieve, Perry, Cape Girardeau, and Scott.
Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City
The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation works with partners to encourage entrepreneurship
across America and improve the education of children and youth. It also provides grants
nationally and within Missouri to promote entrepreneurship.
Missouri Specific Research/Statistics
Missouri Economic Research and Information Center (MERIC)
Contains economic indicators including sales, cost of living, and unemployment for Missouri.
Office of Social and Economic Data Analysis (OSEDA)
OSEDA's mission is to inform community leaders and citizens about social and economic
trends impacting the state of Missouri. The site contains socioeconomic data as well as
community project data.
BRIDG
The Business Research & Information Development Group (BRIDG) was created to ensure that
programming for small business owners and entrepreneurs in Missouri is grounded in solid
research. BRIDG is an initiative of the University of Missouri Extension Business
Development.
