Description of the Northwest Region

In 2000 there were approximately 5,600 full-time entrepreneurs and 4,900 part-time entrepreneurs in the Northwest region. The average annual earnings of full-time entrepreneurs was $27,000 and the average for part-time entrepreneurs was $32,000. Both of these averages were above the annual average wage for the region of approximately $21,000. 1

The most common educational background among entrepreneurs in this region (both full-time and part-time) was either a high school diploma or some college with no degree. The largest concentration of entrepreneurs was in the Agriculture and Forestry industry. Other industries with high concentrations of entrepreneurs included Construction, Other Services, and Health Care and Social Assistance.
