Description of the Hannibal Area Region

In 2000 there were approximately 3,800 full-time entrepreneurs and 3,600 part-time entrepreneurs in the Hannibal region. The annual average earnings of full-time entrepreneurs was $21,700 and the average for part-time entrepreneurs was $29,311. The annual average wage for the region was $21,900.1

The most common educational background of entrepreneurs in this region (both full-time and part-time) was a high school diploma. A large percentage also had either some college with no degree or a bachelor's degree. The largest concentrations of full-time entrepreneurs were in the Agriculture and Forestry, and Mining and Utilities industries. The largest concentrations of part-time entrepreneurs were found in Agriculture and Forestry and Retail Trade.
