Description of the Kansas City Metro North Region

In 2000 there were approximately 2,700 full-time entrepreneurs and 2,700 part-time entrepreneurs in the Kansas City Metro North region. The annual average earnings of full-time entrepreneurs was $48,191 and the average for part-time entrepreneurs was $57,680. Both of these averages were above the annual average wage for the region of $33,000. 1

The most common educational background of full-time entrepreneurs in this region was either some college with no degree (28%), a high school diploma (26%) or a bachelor's degree (17%). Part-time entrepreneurs had a similar educational background. Twenty-six percent had some college, twenty-three percent had a bachelor's degree, and twenty-two percent had a high school degree.

The largest concentration of full-time entrepreneurs was in the Health Care and Social Assistance industry. Among part-time entrepreneurs the highest industry concentrations were in Professional and Technical Services and Management of Companies.
