Description of the Jefferson County Region

In 2000 there were approximately 4,500 full-time entrepreneurs and 4,800 part-time entrepreneurs in the Jefferson County region. The annual average earnings of full-time entrepreneurs was $30,000 and the average for part-time entrepreneurs was $37,000. Both of these averages were above the annual average wage for the region of $26,700.1

The most common educational background of entrepreneurs in this region (both full-time and part-time) was either a high school diploma or some college with no degree. The largest concentration of both full-time and part-time entrepreneurs was in the Construction industry.
