Regional Profiles
Entrepreneurship Regions
Entrepreneurship regions are based on the U.S. Census Public Use Microdata Areas (PUMAs)
for the 2000 U.S. Census. These regions were used because they are the areas upon which the
long form of the U.S. Census is based and they are one of the few data sources where
detailed statewide information about entrepreneurs can be found. PUMA regions contain
between 100,000 and 200,000 people and have been structured so that they do not cross
Metropolitian Statistical Areas (MSAs) or County lines. The clickable
map below gives detailed geographic information about the counties and metro areas
contained in each PUMA.
Click a PUMA on the map below to go to a page for that PUMA or select a PUMA from the pull-down list.
