Post-1990 Population Estimates for U.S. Counties & Higher Level Geographies

By Age, Race, Sex and Hispanic Origin thru 1999

NOTICE: This application is no longer supported.

If you would like to see this application brought back, and/or if you would be interested in seeing a comparable application using Post-2000 estimates please let us know by sending e-mail to John Blodgett. Please specify the decade(s) of interest.

Overview

This application accesses the most recent county level population estimates from the U.S. Census Bureau with detail by age (5-year cohorts through 85+), race, hispanic origin (for total and white race only) and sex. These data are reported for July 1 of each year from 1990 to 1999. Coverage is for the entire United States. In addition to data at the county, state and US levels as provided by the Census Bureau, these estimates have been aggregated (by the MSCDC) to allow access to summaries at the metro area (complete and within state), and US division levels, as well as for metro/non-metro portions of state and above.

Related Web Pages

For background information, original data, maps and reports concerning these estimates (as well as other related estimates) see the relevant Census Bureau and FSCPE web sites.
You can also more directly access the underlying data files used in these reports using the MSCDC's uexplore application (see tutorial), referencing the /mscdc/data/popests/casrh99 subdirectory. The URL for this is http://www.oseda.missouri.edu/cgi-bin/uexplore?/mscdc/data/popests/casrh99@secure.
For access to a series of related county level estimates see the Bureau's County Estimates page.
