SELECTED 1990 CENSUS SOCIAL AND ECONOMIC INDICATORS ELECTRONIC FILES -- LOTUS 123 FORMAT BASIC STRUCTURE OF THE FILES - The Missouri State Census Data Center has organized the 100 most frequently used social and economic variables from the 1990 Census of Population and Housing, Summary Tape File 3 into a set of 14 descriptive tables in Lotus 123 format (ver.2). Text files are also available. The "Basic Tables Data" are available for the following geographic levels or areas: 1) Missouri State and County Incorporated Places/Census Designated Places Census Tracts MSAs/CMSAs (Metropolitan Statistical Areas) Legislative Districts Congressional Missouri Senate Missouri House School Districts (forthcoming) 2) United States U.S. and States Places of 25,000 or More MSAs/CMSAs (Metopolitan Statistical Areas) FILE ORGANIZATION - The Lotus files are organized into sets of files. Each set corresponds to a level of geography such as counties or places as outlined above. They consist of one file for each of the fourteen tables with each geographic unit as a row in the file and each indicator from the table as a column. So, for example, there are 14 files for the 115 counties in Missouri. The first file contains the "XP1" table population indicators as columns for each of the 115 counties which are the spreadsheet rows (See Table 1 below). Similarly, each of the other indicator tables are included as Lotus files in the county set. Table 1.
